Known as paresthesia, it “feels like a sting, tingling, or numbness on the skin.”

Besides dietary restrictions, one of the most common causes of this condition is due to another underlying health problem – pernicious anemia.
It is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks cells in the stomach.
As a result, the cells of the stomach are unable to produce the intrinsic protein factor.
Another culprit of vitamin B12 deficiency is taking proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
This type of medicine is used to treat indigestion, but it can inhibit the production of stomach acid too effectively.
Stomach acid is needed to release vitamin B12 from foods eaten.
