In a study published in the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, the effects of consuming ginger on weight loss in overweight and obese subjects were analyzed.
The study noted: “This systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was performed to summarize the effect of ginger consumption on weight loss, glycemic control and lipid profiles in overweight and obese subjects.
“Overall, the current meta-analysis showed that consuming ginger reduced body weight, waist-to-hip ratio, hip ratio, fasting blood sugar, but did not affect insulin, BMI , triglycerides, total and LDL cholesterol levels. ”
The study showed that ginger supplementation significantly reduced body weight and belly fat.

In another study, the effect of ginger on anti-obesity and weight reduction was investigated.
Most of the experimental studies have supported the weight-reducing effect of ginger extract or powder in obese animal models, while the results of the limited clinical studies available have shown no changes or slight changes in Anthropometric and body composition measurements in obese subjects, the study noted.
He added: “Ginger may modulate obesity through various potential mechanisms, including increased thermogenesis, increased lipolysis, suppression of lipogenesis, inhibition of intestinal fat absorption and appetite control. ”
The study concluded that ginger can help reduce weight by increasing metabolism and fat burning while simultaneously decreasing fat absorption and appetite.
