Arthritis: symptoms include depression and fatigue


In the UK, more than 10 million people suffer from arthritis or other similar conditions that affect the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is one of the main types of arthritis in the UK. “In rheumatoid arthritis, the body’s immune system targets the affected joints, resulting in pain and swelling,” says the NHS.

Most people have associated rheumatoid arthritis with joint pain, but other non-specific symptoms may precede typical symptoms.

Depending on the health care organization, the pattern of symptoms can “increase and decrease” over the course of a day and even from day to day.

“The fever occurs occasionally and is almost always low grade,” he adds.

Can he be cured?

There is no cure for rheumatoid arthritis, but lifestyle interventions can reduce joint inflammation and improve quality of life.

People with arthritis may be discouraged from exercise, but physical activity is essential in managing the disease.

“It increases strength and flexibility, reduces joint pain and helps fight fatigue,” says the Mayo Clinic.

As the health body points out, even moderate exercise can ease your pain and help you maintain a healthy weight.

Improving your diet can also help relieve symptoms of arthritis.

Research suggests that consuming a Mediterranean diet reduces chronic inflammation.

Much of the Mediterranean way of eating consists of consuming fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, beans and legumes, olive oil, whole grains, and a regular intake of fatty fish and poultry on a daily basis.

The benefits of the diet included a reduction in swollen and tender joints, a reduced duration of morning stiffness, and an improvement in overall well-being.
